Healing Teens

“Certainly solved my teens sleep & migraine problems & in one visit too. Recommend Susie, she is a lovely lady.”

Being a teenager can be one of the most confusing and overwhelming stages of our life; we experience so many new things, internally and externally. There is so much pressure to achieve academically and socially, pressure that is usually applied by ourselves. These pressures and expectations can make us feel overwhelmed, anxious, stressed and alone.

I have successfully worked with lots of teenagers with various issues including anxiety, phobias, exam stress, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm and conflict. I tailor each session to meet the needs of the individual; using a solution focused integrative therapy approach I will help you shift negative emotions, build in confidence and teach you techniques you can use throughout life.

The hardest part of being a teenager is probably trying to fit in and not let anyone affect you as a person. Social media is definitely toxic for how I feel about myself at times.

Anxiety

Anxiety comes in many different forms and is triggered for many different reasons; all teens experience anxiety in some form, it is actually a normal reaction to stress, and can sometimes be useful and can help teens deal with overwhelming situations.

For some teens, however, anxiety can stop being a helpful coping mechanism and can have a detrimental effect on relationships with friends and family, it can stop them from wanting to take part in extracurricular activities and effect school / college work.

Exam Stress

It is normal to feel nervous about exams, you want to do your best; it is what pushes you to study and put in the effort required to achieve the results you want. However, when that nervousness turns into something more it can have an effect on your emotional wellbeing and results.

When we are feeling stressed or anxious about anything we find it difficult to focus and retain information, not ideal when exams require us to retain lots of information and focus for long periods of time.

The best part about being a teenager is not having to stress about the important parts in life; paying bills etc. Therefore you can focus on what makes you happy and socialising with friends.
