We have seven Chakras, starting from the base of our spine up to the top of our head.  The best way to visualise how they work, is to imagine them as water wheels that run the length of our spine.  When the first water wheel spins freely, it will naturally pour water into the next wheel and allow that to start spinning and so on.  When someone throws a spanner in the works, none of the wheels will flow freely.  This can lead to our energy being stuck at the base of our spine, around the first chakra.  Once we clear the blockage, or metaphorical spanner, our energy will start to flow again.

Signs that your Chakras are off balance can include, headaches, blurred vision, sinus issues, eyestrain, hearing issues and unbalanced hormones. 

Some ways you can clear your Chakras and bring balance include, positive visualisation, reconnecting with nature, sound healing, Chakra balancing mantras and colour meditation and Intention tapping (EFT).

1st Chakra - TRIBAL POWER

Location: The bottom of your spine

Colour: Red

You lose energy at the 1st Chakra when you:

• Subscribe to family or social beliefs that no longer serve you

• Consider your religion, political beliefs, social class, etc to be better than others

• Hold on to negative experiences with your family

You reinforce energy at the 1st Chakra when you:

• Recognise and nurture your connection with the natural world

• Maintain a sense of pride in your ancestry and family traditions

• Draw on your family for love and support

2nd chakra - power of relationships

Location: Navel (at the front, just below the belly button)

Colour: Orange

You lose energy at the 2nd Chakra when you:

• Try to control others in relationships

• Have adversarial relationships, jealousies, addictions

• Fuel fears about making or losing money, losing energy

• Hold unresolved conflicts about your sexuality

You reinforce energy at the 2nd Chakra when you:

• Honour one another

• Nurture supportive relationships

• Let go of past sexual traumas

• Give up addictions

3rd chakra - personal power

Location: Just below your breastbone at the top of your stomach

Colour: Yellow

You lose energy at the 3rd Chakra when you:

• Break your commitments to yourself

• Manipulate others to gain their approval

• Fail to maintain clear personal boundaries

• Take pride in your work

• Trust your intuition

• Keep your word

4th CHAKRA - emotional power

Location: Heart

Colour: Green

You lose energy at the 4th Chakra when you:

• Allow past negative experiences to limit your choices - are you dwelling on heartaches?

Location: Between your eyes

Colour: Dark Blue or Indigo

You lose energy at the 6th Chakra when you:

• Hold on to old grief

• Insist on rational explanations for your internal experience

• Close your mind to non-rational possibilities

You reinforce energy at the 6th Chakra when you:

• Take emotional risks

• Open your mind to extravagant possibilities

• Follow your hunches

• Live in the truth of your heart

• Don't judge others

• Always stay open to new ideas

7TH CHAKRA - spiritual connector

Location: Top of the head

Colour: Violet or Purple

Crystals to use for healing: Amethyst, Sugilite, Clear Quartz, Charoite, Tanzanite

You lose energy at the 7th Chakra when you:

• Live life without faith

• Put conditions on your spiritual experience

• Reject guidance unless it comes from a person you approve of or in a form of which you approve

You reinforce energy at the 7th Chakra when you:

• Pray consciously

• Express gratitude

• Regard your life as a vehicle for spiritual development

• Live fully in the moment

• Free up energy to heal others as well as yourself
